Summer 2012 Studio Arts Field Study in Wyoming

Studio Arts offers this three-credit sixteen-day Field Study Intensive in Wyoming through the University Honors College for the fourth consecutive year. Students meet in Denver in July for two days of gallery and museum tours and then head north via the Snowy Range Pass to Rock River, Wyoming, northwest of Laramie. Situated in the high altitude short grass prairie between the Laramie Mountains and the Medicine Bow Range, students work between an encampment of tents on the Spring Creek Preserve’s 6,000 acres, the Longhorn Motel in Rock River, and makeshift studio space in a 1919 era Bank Building. This year's Field Study includes a trip to Robert Smithson's Spiral Jetty in the Great Salt Lake and Southcentral Wyoming's Red Desert.
