Summer 2017 Studio Arts Field Study in Wyoming

Studio Arts offers this three-credit seventeen-day Field Study Intensive in Wyoming through the University Honors College for the ninth consecutive year. Students will meet in Denver in late June for museum visits and then head north via the Snowy Range Pass to Rock River, Wyoming, northwest of Laramie. Situated in the high altitude short grass prairie between the Laramie Mountains and the Medicine Bow Range, students will work between an encampment of tents on the Spring Creek Preserve’s 6,000 acres, the Longhorn Motel in Rock River, and makeshift studio space in a 1919 era Bank Building. This year's Field Study will include a trip to Nancy Holt's Sun Tunnels in the Great Basin Desert outside Lucin, Utah, Robert Smithson's Spiral Jetty in the Great Salt Lake, and the Red Desert of southwestern Wyoming.  Stay tuned for updates and photos from the group!
