HOMESTEAD -- Eberle Studios is pleased to present Slow Core Trilogy an animation screening of three animations by Pittsburgh-based artist Scott Turri on Saturday, January 25 at 8:00 pm. Doors open at 7:00 pm. Free admission.
This trilogy includes "Seele Heimat," "Liminal," and "Eye Bird Blink." These pieces are connected by their exploration of themes such as memory, the supernatural, ritual, place, home, and the impact of built environments on our physical and metaphysical experiences within these spaces. Each animation relies on non-linear narratives that blend rhythmic and lyrical elements sourced from both representational and non-representational realms. Another common feature is their treatment of time; all three pieces contain long, slow-moving passages, serving as a meditative counter to the increasingly fast-paced world we inhabit. The animations feature soundscapes by Swedish composers Henrik Meierkord and Sonja Tofik.
Hailing from suburban Philadelphia, where he spent his formative years, Turri now calls Pittsburgh home. In addition to his art-making habit, he is a self-taught drummer and has written for New Art Examiner, BOMB Magazine, and Afterimage. Currently, Turri is a Teaching Associate Professor in the Studio Arts Department at the University of Pittsburgh and is represented by James Gallery.
