Loring Taoka is a visual artist who explores their identity as a queer person of color and how they navigate uncertainty, legibility, and truthfulness. Taoka is interested in looking and seeing, asking the fundamental questions about how we look and see: What am I looking at? How do I understand what I am seeing? And how are images read and understood?
Taoka’s work has been exhibited/featured in venues such as Floorr Magazine (London, England), Western Exhibitions (Chicago, IL), and River Gallery (Los Angeles, CA), with solo exhibitions presented at Rebecca Randall Bryan Gallery (Conway, SC), Curiouser & Curiouser (Kansas City, KS), Galleri Urbane (Dallas, TX), and Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art (Bentonville, AR). Loring Taoka is currently represented by Galleri Urbane in Dallas, TX.
