Kenneth Batista joined the Studio Arts Department in May, 1978. Previously, he taught at the Kendall College of Art & Design in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Prof. Batista holds a B.F.A. from the Columbus College of Art & Design in Columbus, Ohio (earning the sole Outstanding Senior Award) and did his graduate work at the Tyler School of Art, Temple University where he earned an M.F.A. in Printmaking. Prof. Batista served as Department Chair of the Studio Arts Department from 1986–1993. He also served three consecutive terms as an Assistant Dean for Undergraduate Studies in the Kenneth P. Dietrich School of Arts & Sciences. Prof. Batista has also taught for the Semester-at-Sea Program (Fall Voyage, 1993) and a week-long summer workshop in drawing for the Commonground on the Hill program in residence at McDaniel College in Westminster, Maryland. (2004 – 2014, 2017,-2018. Prof. Batista also produced and hosted a weekly radio program dedicated to folk music and acoustic blues for WYEP 913 FM, Pittsburgh enjoying a national audience (1991-2022).
